Mr. Puttaswamy is a national award winning kannada writer. The brief was to design a house with exclusive writing space which would inspire him to write and not hinder his creative process.

This brief was what influenced the design of the courtyard house. All four sides of the house were designed to achieve maximum light and ventilation. The entry to the house is not direct but through the courtyard and parking area in the front. The layout of the house is in the form of a “C “with the upper floor windows looking into the courtyard below.

The facade of the house itself is very minimalistic with stone cladding and windows being the only decorative/functional elements added.
